A Travel Theme Baby Shower
A dear friend is expecting her third child in the coming months. After much resistance, we finally convinced her to allow us to throw a small shower for her, though she was very strict on the no gift policy. Choosing a theme for the shower was pretty easy. Since she is a world traveler, we settled on a travel theme baby shower brunch.
Co-hosting with the Best
Hosting a party can be stressful. But when you have wonderful friends who have great taste, are super helpful, and are as type-A as yourself, the work is pretty easy. It also makes the budget a little more reasonable.
I volunteered to help with decor. I am always weary of using Pinterest for ideas as I have had many a Pinterest fail, but this tutorial for paper pinwheels seemed easy enough so I tried it. Success! And, very inexpensive.
You know that tradition for American brides: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? That totally applies to baby showers too. The book is something I picked up on a trip to Istanbul years ago. I found this candle holder at Dollar Tree, and borrowed the globe from a friend.
I cannot take any credit for this amazing cake and its display. But I did take a picture of it to offer some inspiration!
I was also responsible for favors. There are a lot of really cute ideas for favors for travel themed parties. I settled on these luggage tags (affiliate link).
What I Wore
Of course, what would a post on the blog be without an outfit picture, right? I love pleated midi skirts, I picked this one up on that same trip to Istanbul. Perfect for a travel themed party! Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the boutique in Istanbul, but I have affiliate links to some similar items below the picture. Need more outfit inspiration? Search my fashion archives.
