Next in the basics series, shoes. If you missed my previous post about basic tops, you can check it out here.
A few years ago, my philosophy about shoes was, you can never have enough! While I wouldn’t disagree with the notion now, I do find that I do not acquire as many as I had in the past. During the week I have a few I wear on rotation. That set definitely fluctuates, it might lose a pair along the way, or gain a pair or two if there’s a sale. But for the most part, these are my go to shoes.
I’m slightly embarrassed to admit this as a fashion blogger, but I think I am finally at that point where comfort trumps style. I am simply too old to sacrifice my feet. While I’m admitting embarrassing facts about myself, I will also admit I need shoes that are easy to wear. I’m talking slip on, run out the door, maximum one buckle kind of shoes. I have some heels too, just not very high ones.
Below:
Block heel sandals: nude color goes with everything, great for daytime
Peep toe booties: leather like butter, the block heel make them very comfortable
Slip ons: memory foam insole
Gold sandals: A basic? Yes, for any South Asian girl
Sneakers: look cool while running around the park
Flats: add sophistication to any outfit
Oxfords: make me feel more hipster than I actually am
