Next on the wardrobe building agenda, basic pants. When I say basics, I am talking about those pants you go to over, and over again. If you are visiting for the first time, check out my basic tops and basic shoes posts for more wardrobe building blocks to go with these pants.
My daytime style is pretty casual, so that means lots of jeans. Because that is what I primarily wear day in and day out, I don’t mind paying a little more for premium denim. I find a high quality pair of jeans last years and maintains a good fit. Most of my jeans are Paige, as they suit my pear shape better than other brands. J Brand is another one that I like. The exception to my premium denim preference is this gray pair of Wit and Wisdom jeans. They are very comfortable and do not lose their shape. Unfortunately they are no longer in stock, but I’ll let you know when they’re back.
I wear mostly skinny fit, I find they balance out the volume of my tops. If skinny is too much for you, try straight leg. As for color, you can see they’re pretty basic. I save the fun stuff for my tops.
I am also a big fan of leggings. I know some of you will argue, leggings aren’t pants. But sometimes they are the only bottoms that go well with a long top. My rule of thumb, leggings are perfectly legit if your top covers your behind.
For the occasional situation where I need to look professional, I have a classic pair of wool trousers. The fit of these are perfect, I had them hemmed to stop right at the ankle.
