Every Party Needs a Theme
I had the pleasure of helping a friend surprise her twin sister for their birthday last year. This year I helped the other twin surprise her sister for their birthday. Confusing I know, but fun for me! I love helping with parties, but I was more eager to help with this one because this friend of mine hosted my entire entourage as we evacuated Hurricane Harvey. For such a beautiful soul, a She’s a Gem birthday party theme seemed fitting.
The wonderful thing about having a large group of friends is that everyone is willing to help. This picture encapsulates that perfectly. The cake was taken care of by one set of friends, cake stands and gem candies by another, favor cookies by a different group of friends, and the banner by yet another. The backdrop was created by yours truly. All of the items I used to create it are on Amazon, affiliate links below the picture.

Decor
I offered to help with decor this time and had my own set of friends who helped. For a she’s a gem birthday party, I went with jewel tones for the centerpieces. Would you believe I got these glass vases and bottles from Dollar Tree? Same with the votive candle holders. You would be surprised by what you can find there. I always check it out before going to some of the usual party supply stores. Flowers I picked up from Costco, which has some really beautiful flowers that are very reasonably priced.
Outfit
This jumpsuit has been sitting in my closet for a few months. A glamorous evening party seemed an appropriate event to which to wear it. Many other women had the same idea because there were at least five of us wearing a black jumpsuit. Guess it just goes to show I have friends with good taste! Shop the look below the picture. Or check out this outfit which would also work for an evening event.
