Like most moms out there, I have been quite busy while under quarantine for COVID 19. My kids will be home until the end of the school year, so in addition to everything else, I’m also a teacher now. Beyond the actual responsibilities, I have found myself constantly trying to find things to do: bake something, clean something, exercise. I’m not the only one, according to this NY Times article. I had ordered a few skincare/self care items a while back, but never had the ‘time’ to actually do them. Truth is, I just didn’t want to sit still and be with my thoughts. Moreover, when is a better time than now to take care of your skin? We’re not going anywhere, might as well take the time to take care of myself. Below are some of the items in my quarantine skincare lineup.
I ordered these Patchology All Eyes on You eye gel packs (affiliate link) and Perfect Ten moisturizing gloves (affiliate link) recently to add to my routine. I have dark under eye circles, so I will try (almost) anything to brighten them up. I don’t know if it’s the extra hand washing because of the COVID 19 virus, but I was concerned my hands were starting to show my real age. Verdict on these items: perfect for a spa day at home! I felt rested and my skin felt quenched. If you see the picture below, the gloves were more like mittens, so I had no choice but to lay and relax. I couldn’t even use my phone!
A Good Face Mask
Don’t think anyone wants to see my in a face mask, so I’ll just share some affiliate links below. Somehow I skipped the adolescent acne and started breaking out as an adult. Unfortunately that has led to some hyperpigmentation, so I use Retin-A for the acne and scars. As a result I have pretty dry skin too. For the dry skin I use this Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask (affiliate link)at night. It has staved off the usual peeling that comes with Retin-A. Since we’ve been home for about 8 weeks, I’ve added this Aztec Secret (affiliate link)clay mask to my quarantine skincare routine, it’s supposed to help with acne.
Skin Brightening Serum
I didn’t know I needed one until a friend sent this Maelove Glow Maker serum to me for my birthday. You can read the site for ingredients and reviews, but I will say that I definitely find my skin to be healthier after using this for a month. This one I use right after I wash my face in the morning.
Moisturizer for Day and Night
So for my daytime moisturizer, I use none other than Olay. I know, surprising. It’s the only SPF moisturizer that doesn’t cause serious breakouts. At night, when I don’t use the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask (affiliate link), I use Argan oil. This one is an off brand one from a stall at Global Village in Dubai my SIL sends me. I’ve heard good things about this argan oil by The Ordinary.
That’s it. I’m still in the market for a good hand cream. Tell me your favorites!
