Most fashion bloggers know a thing or two about beauty, but not this one. I have probably gone more years than acceptable with my minimal knowledge and usage of makeup. Every year I see great beauty deals during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale but I get overwhelmed and don’t buy anything. This time around I asked friend and local makeup artist Nyoka Gregory for her help. Having a professional alongside to navigate the sale was so helpful! These were our Nsale beauty picks this trip.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beautyblender
Nyoka nearly fell over when I told her I don’t own a foundation. I’m a powder kind of girl. But after some explaining I have been converted. I guess a Beautyblender is THE tool to apply foundation, and this set is a very good deal. Affiliate link: Beautyblender set
As for the foundation for which I bought these to apply…I didn’t buy it yet. I have sample of this Bobbi Brown foundation in Warm Natural. I will say that my skin was definitely glowing after application, let’s see if I can get it right when I do it myself.
Anniversary Sale Exclusive Eyeshadow Set
Also something I would never have bought if not for the the encouragement of Nyoka. But we tried it out in the store, and one swipe had such beautiful color and it stayed for hours! I think these will be great to use at all these weddings I go to. Affiliate link: Stila liquid eyeshadow
Other Makeup Necessities
So Nyoka didn’t lose it when I told her I didn’t own foundation, but she sure did when I told her I didn’t own highlighter either. Many have asked me how I have gotten this far without some of these beauty necessities, and now I am wondering the same. This one is Bobbi Brown in Pink Glow (affiliate link) and I did end up buying it.
Not Anniversary Sale But Still Needed
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has quite a few brush sets, but being the makeup novice that I am, Nyoka suggested I buy them piecemeal instead. That way I would only buy what I need to save money, and space in my makeup bag. We headed to Morphe and picked out the brushes below. Links for brushes from left to right: M456, M224, M106, M502.
How to Use All This New Makeup
So I accomplished the first step of acquiring the necessary tools. But I still am unsure of how to apply it. Nyoka does makeup application classes, and you can bet I’ll be signing up for one of those. Anything else you’d like to see when it comes to beauty? Let me know in comments below!
