If you have been following me, you’ll know that my modest fashion sense is driven by my Islamic faith. Modest fashion is a visual representation of one’s character – our manners with others, how we speak, and what we consume. All of the Abrahamic faiths encourage this holistic view of modesty, which is great because it fosters a greater connection between us. It also gives us more options for shopping, case in point, modest fashion brand Skirt Society.
About Skirt Society
Skirt Society is a Christian brand. The online boutique focuses on modest dresses and skirts for women – think long sleeve dresses, and midi to maxi length dresses and skirts. Michelle, founder and owner of Skirt Society, says it was born out of necessity more than anything. Like many of us, she had a hard time finding clothes that met her needs. She said, “I’m just a wife and mom who was tired of not finding clothing that was modest enough to not have to layer. Growing up in southern California we dealt with quite hot and humid summers and nearly no winters, so layering was out of the question.”
My Purchase: Tie Dye Maxi Dress
If you keep up with trends, you’ll know that tie dye is all the rage right now. Much of the trend can be seen in loungewear and casual pieces. You can imagine my excitement then, when I found this tie dye long sleeve maxi dress with pockets at Skirt Society. It’s the perfect dress for a quarantined modest fashion blogger: trendy tie dye, comfortable enough to wear at home, modest enough to wear out when necessary. The dress here is the Katia Tie Dy Navy Maxi in small. As you can see, it’s quite fitted at the top, so if you prefer a looser fit, size up. Material is a stretch jersey type, and very comfortable. Skirt Society also has a midi tie dye dress in the same color and olive, both with long sleeves, if you prefer midi dresses to maxi dresses.
Would I recommend buying from modest fashion brand Skirt Society? Yes! The order process was very easy, the dress is good quality, and they shipped in a very timely manner. Plus, I very much believe in supporting companies that share my values. “It all started with a thought, and grew to an amazing community feel.” says Michelle. “I like to make relationships with my customers, with honesty and integrity.”
