Yes, I’m sure it’s confusing to read a post about modest Christmas party dresses written by a Muslim woman. To get a little more background on my take on Christmas, read my Muslim Guide to Christmas. As you scroll through, you’ll see some fairly formal dresses. Why would I own such dresses? It’s the Pakistani in me. Our clothes are ornate, and quite frankly pretty fancy. To support such a habit, I rely on buying many of these dresses secondhand. I love dressing up, but for as often as I wear them, it makes more sense for me. While I can’t find the exact item for you, I have affiliate links for very similar ones below.
Accessories to Pair with Formal Outfits
Before we get into the outfits, you’ll notice I only have a handful of formal shoes and clutches. Here are some affiliate links to items I think go with everything.
Formal Shoes
I’ve provided affiliate links for a few pairs in a range of prices. Yes, I paid that much for Rockstuds and plan to wear them until I am 80. That’s why I got the kitten heel.
Formal Clutches
I own 2 – one gold one and the patent leather Louis Vuitton one. Affiliate links for that one and some gold ones I like below:
Formal Jewelry
One of my favorite shops to buy jewelry is Piedra & Art. I am wearing a pair of their earrings with the plaid dress further down. Here are some other pieces I think would go well with almost anything (affiliate links).
Modest Tea Length Dress
This is one of my favorite dresses in my closet. Long sleeves (that aren’t sheer) with an empire waist – what’s not to love? It’s vintage and I am having a hard time finding similar ones, affiliate links to the best I can find below.

Modest Plaid Dress
Nothing screams winter and Christmas like plaid. Another vintage piece (have I convinced you to shop vintage yet?), I love the dramatic sleeves on this. The dress is pretty modest on its own, I just layered a turtleneck (affiliate link) underneath and some tights (affiliate link) to make it a little more so. Sometimes I like to google the designers of these vintage dresses, turns out Morton Myles was kind of a big deal back in the day!
I was actually able to find the same dress in a different pattern on Etsy, but nothing else remotely close. I have affiliate links for some other plaid dresses and puff sleeve dresses below. These are the Piedra & Art earrings I was speaking of.

Modest Skirt and Top Outfits
I haven’t had the best luck finding modest formal dresses outside of vintage stores so many times I pair skirts and tops. Here are a few of my favorites. Affiliate links for similar looking pieces below.
Tartan Skirt + Lace Sleeve Top

Tulle Skirt and White Shirt
This is an outfit I shared for Eid but it can totally be worn for a Christmas party, or any other formal event for that matter. Skirt is from Chicwish, I have an affiliate link to a similar one below. Any crisp white shirt will do, my favorite is this Banana Republic one (affiliate link).

Tea Length Skirt and Colorful Shirt
Another Eid outfit that can be worn for Christmas parties. Both items are pieces I’ve had in my closet for a while, affiliate links for similar items below.
