Finally, sweater weather! Sort of. It’s cool in the morning, hot in the afternoons, then cool again in the evening. Instead of pullover sweaters that are hard to take on an off, I’m relying on my long cardigans. They’re the perfect layering pieces, they’re modest, and some of the prints I’ve found are super stylish. Here are three of my favorite long cardigan outfit ideas.
Animal Print Long Cardigan
I have a leopard print cardigan that’s been on heavy rotation – mostly because it’s the only cardigan I had for a while. Leopard isn’t the only animal print in style this fall. Zebra is too, and this zebra print cardigan (affiliate link, similar) is a great versatile piece to throw in the mix. I’ve styled it here with some faux leather pants (affiliate link, similar) a simple striped t-shirt (affiliate link, similar), and some black suede booties (affiliate link, similar).
Plaid Long Cardigan
You see a lot of buffalo plaid in flannels and sweatshirts, but this is the first plaid long cardigan (affiliate link) I have seen. Decided to depart from the usual black and pair it with some white jeans (affiliate link, similar) and red pumps (affiliate link, similar) for a little pop of color. I bought this Madewell tank (affiliate link) in gray and black and I really like them. I like the modest, higher neck line, and the length is perfect if you don’t want to always tuck in your tank.
Belted Long Cardigan
Calling this piece a cardigan may not be accurate, but neither is calling it a jacket. Whatever you call it, a long belted cardigan (affiliate link, similar) is another great layering piece for fall. I’ve dressed it up for a more professional look with a button down shirt (affiliate link, similar) and these mini dot pants (affiliate link, similar). It could just as easily be worn with jeans and booties.
