Traveling again! But this time, the family is coming along. We are heading to Colorado Springs by way of Denver. We have never been, largest determining factor – really inexpensive tickets. I was dreaming of sitting on a beach in Mexico, but I have come to realize that my family does not know how to sit still. We are not ‘let’s just sit by the pool all day’ kind of people. We are ‘let’s get out of here and move around’ kind of people. Sometimes I wish we were the former.
It’s all in the Details
I have found that it is always better to overprepare. For everything. But especially when traveling with kids. We don’t take electronics on domestic flights, so that means packing the kids’ backpacks with activities and snacks to last the two and a half hour flight. I have also made an itinerary for each day, including which restaurant we will be visiting for each meal, and activities for the day.
This is probably not the best idea, but I am going to try to cram our entire family of five’s items into one suitcase. However, as the kids have gotten older, I do not need to pack an extra outfit for every day. The older one can actually repeat sometimes! I, on the other hand, need to tone it down with the packing, and I will try my best. Below are some of the items I am taking with me. We plan to be out hiking most of the days so there will be quite a bit of athleisure, which is totally fine by me. Other days will be my usual jeans and t shirts. Obsessive weather checker here has seen that it will be chilly in the mornings and evenings so I am taking along this North Face fleece, which has a really warm lining. This Lesportsac bag is my favorite travel bag. It’s large enough to carry everything I need, it’s extremely durable, and the color is neutral enough that I can pass it along to the husband without embarrassing him too much.
