August is usually the hottest month for us here in Houston. While stores are putting out fall sweaters and coats, I’m trying to figure out the minimum amount of clothing possible while still being appropriately dressed. Also, I’ve decided to make an effort to get dressed. No more athleisure, I’m keeping workout clothes for workouts. So what are some cute, modest summer outfit ideas? They start with these casual long sleeve summer tops.
Long Sleeve Eyelet Top
Despite it being ridiculously hot, I’m trying to get the kids to play outside. Sometimes you have to walk the walk, so that means being outside too, and, gasp, even playing with them. To stay cool while I’m outside, I look for lightweight cotton tops that aren’t sheer so I don’t have to wear a camisole underneath. This pink eyelet top (affiliate link) is the perfect summer color and fabric to wear outside. Floral pants are also cotton, but old ones I’ve had in my closet. Affiliate links for outfit below.

Long Sleeve Patterned Popover Shirt
Lounging poolside doesn’t require a bathing suit, but I have plenty of modest swimwear ideas should you need them. This casual long sleeve summer top is made of an airy cotton, and because of the chevron pattern, doesn’t show through. Affiliate links for the outfit below, couldn’t find the sandals in white but I found the style in a different color.

Long Sleeve Military Style Shirt
Of all the tops posted, I feel like this one can also be carried over into fall because of the color. Just like the other tops it’s made of lightweight cotton, so I can do this ‘gardening’ I’m so accurately showing in the hot sun. While the post is about casual long sleeve summer tops, I have to mention these new chinos I’ve added to my closet. Jeans and fitted pants can get a little hot, these navy cotton chinos are lighter weight and looser making them a little cooler. Affiliate links for the outfit below. For some reason I couldn’t find the correct colors when creating the links, but the styles are the same. Sunglasses and sneakers are similar, not exact items.
