It’s the first day of school for us! The kids went shopping a few weeks ago with my mom to pick out their first day of school outfits (thank you, Nano!). I learned my lesson and ordered all of their school supplies online. All that’s left is to figure out is what I need to wear to drop them off. Yes, it’s the kids that are going to school, but I think it’s just as important to think about ourselves so I am sharing some back to school fashion for moms.
A Modest Workout Outfit
The first day is always bittersweet for me. As a stay at home mom I was with the kids all day, every day this summer. As much as I was frazzled by their energy and the amount of work that piled up, I enjoyed their companionship. I also enjoyed eating ice cream with them and managed to pack on a few pounds. My goal is to fit in a workout as soon as I drop them off so athletic wear is going to be a big part of my back to school wardrobe. I have affiliate links for a few different pieces below since the ones I’m wearing are out of stock. Also, my love of basketball, the Bulls, and Michael Jordan have finally rubbed off on my eldest.
A Peplum Top and Jeans
Sometimes I actually need to look presentable in the mornings. It might be a PTO meeting or coffee with a fellow blogger, but it definitely requires something a little more presentable than sweatpants. I love this colorful top from And Other Stories (affiliate link). The material is perfect for our still hot Houston summers and dresses up some plain jeans (affiliate link). Add a headband (affiliate link) for fun. Scroll down to see some more affiliate links for peplum tops.
Some Wide Leg Linen Pants
By the time I have to pick up the kids in the afternoon it’s 100 degrees. And to avoid waiting in the long car line I walk to school to pick them up. Yes, it’s as awful as it sounds. So to make it a bit more bearable I try to wear something either lightweight, or something I don’t mind sweating in. These linen pants are great because I can throw them on quickly and run out the door. Same with these mules (affiliate link). Affiliate links for similar linen pants below.
Good luck to all the moms and kids going back to school!
